Two children were killed today and several others were injured when a public transport bus crashed into a kindergarten in Laval, in the Canadian province of Quebec, north of Montreal, emergency officials said.
Aerial footage shows that the bus hit the daycare building directly, foreign agencies report.
“This is a terrible tragedy,” and the bus driver, employed by the Lavla transport company, has been detained, said Quebec’s Minister of Internal Security, François Bonnardel.
Police have surrounded the scene of the accident, distraught parents are arriving to see what happened to their children, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “monitoring the situation closely.”
